Sharon Horn is an MSW graduate from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work in Washington Heights, New York. She began her career as a Social Worker and Behaviorist with the Jewish Association For Developmental Disabilities (J-ADD) of Bergen County New Jersey, where she currently sits on the Board of Directors. There she helped individuals with developmental disabilities live a full life in their communities. This was achieved by facilitating a more effective interaction between these individuals and the larger social environment.

These skills have now been applied to the various populations Sharon helps in her practice today. Treating all individuals with respect and dignity while offering choice has always been her motto. Her vast network of resources and referrals have helped facilitate change for all the families and individuals she works with.

One family was about to lose their home, Dad had lost his job, therefore losing health insurance and the family system was shaken by all these events. The Sharon Horn Consulting team was able to assess this families needs, create a strategy and care plan including social services, home repairs, employment opportunities and services to provide sound mental health. After several months, Dad was back to work and the family system is regaining its ability to meet life’s challenges. Whether they are working with the elderly, individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health disabilities or families in crisis, the team recognizes how important it is to help acquire the services and tools necessary to attaining specific goals.

The team at Sharon Horn Consulting is always respectful of the client’s self-determination while assisting them in achieving these goals. Using a professional problem solving process to engage and assess their client’s needs, they deliver services that are aligned with the ethics and values of contemporary social work practice.
